The areas of expertise expected of a Consulting Engineer has widened in the last two decades.
Legislation, energy, sustainability, low carbon design and renewables are increasingly important today and we have groups of engineers focusing on each of these specialisms.
We are not reacting; we are leading the way in influencing the approach to new technologies.
Recently we have been instrumental in influencing the British Council for Offices in publishing new guidelines. This resulted in an increase in the internal office set point temperatures to 24°C, producing substantial energy savings.
We are similarly campaigning for legislation to focus more on carbon reduction and not rely solely on renewable technologies. This initiative is being driven by "Our People".
